Samsung Galaxy Note 9 specifications
Whilst to the naked eye it might look a lot like its Note 8 predecessor, the new Note 9 is a lot more powerful with many of its old features upgraded for a better user experience. Behind the 6.4-inch screen of the Note 9, Samsung have hidden their largest ever battery at 4000mAh which they claim will power the phone for a whole day. In addition, both the 6GB and 8GB versions come with microSD slots which promise to expand the phone’s onboard storage capacity to up to 1TB. All versions will come with Samsung’s own 10nm Exynos 9810 CPU.
Surely the best feature of the Note 9 is its S Pen. Even though Samsung have previously explored using a stylus feature on their phones, the Note 9 S Pen takes this to a whole new level. With Bluetooth LE (low energy) capabilities integrated within the stylus, Samsung boasts that it can be used as a makeshift camera button, as a remote when streaming music or videos and as a point and click controller for presentations. Not only this, but Samsung is opening the SDK to third-party app makers so that the stylus’s unique functionality can be harnessed across a variety of different platforms. For all this, the pen needs to only be charged for 40 seconds inside the phone to unlock up to 30 minutes of use.
The dual 12MP camera on the Note 9 seems fairly similar to that of the Note 8. Nevertheless, improved in-app technology has taken the camera to a new level. The integrated AI technology within the camera app tells you when there is a flaw in the picture whether it’s because someone has blinked or because of poor lighting. It also switches seamlessly for different kinds of shot to allow for better pictures.
Design and extras
The extra battery power and large screen do add some weight to the phone which comes in at 201 grams. Even so, the sleek design with ‘diamond cut’ hides this well. The phone comes in four different colours and the screen is as sharp as ever with quad super AMOLED display technology.
With all its new upgrades, it certainly seems as though the Note 9 will be a big hit and Apple will need to pull out all the stops when they unveil the 2018 iPhone lineup we saw leaked by Tiger Mobiles last week. The improved functionality and the revamped stylus features have created a product which is not only unique but one which could shape the future of mobile technology.
