Samsung Galaxy A9 Star Launched in Philippines as Samsung Galaxy A8 Star


Samsung has silently launched its latest mid-range smartphone the Samsung Galaxy A8 Star in Philippines. The company has introduced the same smartphone as Galaxy A9 Star in China last week. The Galaxy A8 Star should carry the same Yuan 2,999 ($468/ PHP 24,800) price tag in the Philippines as well. It will go on sale in China on June 14 and will likely arrive in South Korea and South East Asia in the coming weeks.

Talking about the specifications, the Samsung Galaxy A8 Star runs on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system and sports a 6.3” Full-HD (2160×1080 pixels) sAMOLED Infinity display with 80.6% screen-to-body ratio. The smartphone is powered by the 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 512. It offers 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 4TB via microSD card.

For photography, the Samsung Galaxy A8 Star comes equipped with a dual rear camera setup with a combination of a 16MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture and a 24MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture cameras with PDFA, HDR and LED Flash support. On the front, it has 24MP selfe shooter with f/2.0 aperture. The front camera also equipped with facial recognition technology to unlock the device.

The Samsung Galaxy A8 Star is fuelled by a 3,700mAh battery. Connectivity options include Dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/ b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0 LE, NFC, GPS, Glonass, BeiDou, Galileo, and USB Type-C port.
