Samsung is gearing up for its next Galaxy Unpacked 2020 event on February 11 to reveal its latest flagship from the Galaxy series. At this event, the company is expected to unveil its latest Galaxy S20 series and a foldable smartphone. As of now, it was rumored that the next foldable smartphone from the company will be named as the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 but now, the company itself confirmed that the upcoming folding phone from Samsung will be called the Galaxy Boom.
SamMobile folks have spotted an AJUNews report, a South Korean publication, as per which Samsung CEO DJ Koh held a private session with partners and carriers at CES 2020. He talked about the company’s future plans including upcoming products. In the session, he also revealed that the name of the next-gen foldable phone will be called Galaxy Bloom instead of Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 which has been in leaks for some time now.
In addition to this, a blurry image has also been captured during the same event which reveals the clamshell design of the phone along with its Galaxy Bloom name. Samsung is planning over to market this product to women in their 20s. The design came from cosmetics brand Lancome’s compact makeup powder.
In the same conversation, he also reveals that the next next-gen Galaxy S flagships will indeed be called Galaxy S20. Previously, we have been calling it the Samsung Galaxy S11, but now it looks like the name of this mobile has been changed. It is now appearing to be correct as the new flagship models will be launched as Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra.
In terms of specifications, a new report suggests that the Galaxy Fold will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 mobile platform. On the other hand, the Galaxy S20 is rumored to come with the latest Snapdragon 865 SoC. The Galaxy Boom is expected to feature a punch-hole design similar to what we have seen in the latest Galaxy Note 10 series with a 10-megapixel selfie camera.
Apart from this, the Galaxy S20 Ultra is said to sport a 108 MP main rear camera, as well as support for 100x zoom. All three phones from the Galaxy S20 series will have 8K recording capabilities too.
