Samsung Announces Fingerprint-Protected T7 Touch SSD

The South Korean electronics giant, Samsung has released its first external SSD that comes with a built-in fingerprint scanner. The new fingerprint scanner makes it easier for the users to have access to the hard drive and its data with a touch of the finger.

The T7-Touch has a fast SSD drive which offers super-faster speed with reliable storage option. The read speed of this drive is 1,050MB/s  while the write speed of this SSD is 1,000MB/s. The design of this new generation SSD is quite impressive.

It comes with a super sleek body made from high-grade aluminium materials that ensure great durability. The overall weight of this SSD is just 58 grams. It carries a durable construction and can withstand the fall of up to 2 meters.

What makes this new T7 Touch a unique gadget in the segment is its standard security feature i.e. built-in Fingerprint Scanner. You would be able to access the data stored in the hard drive just by pressing the finger on the scanner. The hard drive will be unlocked and you would be able to explore all the data of it. There will be an LED light also available that work as an indicator. It lets you know whether the drive is locked or unlocked.

Interestingly, just like a smartphone, a user can add up to four fingers into the drive. You can also allow other users to access the hard drive’s data. All the data inside the hard drive is secured by a high level of security. The AES 256-bit hardware data encryption is used by the drive to store the data.

Soon after the introduction, Samsung has received the best innovation award from the jury at the CES 2020. Apparently, this is something new that Samsung has introduced which is more secure than any other drives. Usually, we have seen such extra protection on the computer end but this SSD comes with a built-in fingerprint scanner making it secured from outside.

The T7 Touch will be available in Black and Silver finish. It comes with 500 GB, 1TB and 2TB of storage options. The pricing of the SSD is $129.99, $299.99, and $399.99, respectively. It is backed by the company’s 3-Year Limited Warranty.
