Bell and Telus have followed Rogers in increasing their connection fees to $60, continuing the trend set by the Big Three telecom companies.
Rogers began the fee increase on June 30th, raising its ‘Setup Service Fee’ from $50 to $60. It was only a matter of time before Bell and Telus followed suit.
Bell and its subsidiary Virgin Plus now display a connection fee of $60 on their websites. However, customers can still avoid this fee by making their purchase online. The providers have placed the connection fee information in the collapsible section below their plans.
In July 2021, Bell and Virgin previously increased their connection fees from $45 to $50.
Similarly, Telus and Koodo have updated their websites to show a higher connection fee of $60. Customers still have the option to avoid these fees by shopping online. Telus provides the details in the hideable ‘terms and conditions’ section below its plans, whereas Koodo is transparent and displays the connection fee directly below the monthly cost of its plans.
Telus previously increased its connection fee from $45 to $50 on July 29th, 2021.
Prior to that, the providers raised the connection fees from $40 to $45 in the fall of 2020.
