The Cell Gap Project, an initiative led by the Eastern Ontario Regional Network (EORN), has successfully brought Rogers’ advanced 5G network to various underprivileged communities in Ontario. Through the construction of nine new wireless sites and upgrades to 37 towers, Rogers has significantly enhanced connectivity options for residents and businesses.
The areas that will directly benefit from this development include Ontario County Highway 2 from Belleville to Shannonville, the southern regions of Sandbanks Provincial Park, Healey Falls to Campbellford South in Northumberland County, Archer’s Road to County Road 2 in Northumberland County, Bridgenorth in Peterborough County, Camp Kawartha in Peterborough County, Glasgow Station to ON-17 in Renfrew County, Demorestville in Prince Edward County, and Highway 7 in Maberly in Lanark County.
This ambitious project, which is a collaboration between Rogers, federal and provincial authorities, and municipal members, has received funding support to ensure its success. EORN’s Cell Gap Project, valued at $300 million, aims to improve cellular service availability throughout eastern Ontario. By 2025, Rogers plans to construct 330 new wireless sites and upgrade an additional 300 existing sites, with 13 new wireless sites and 297 upgrades already completed.
Phil Hartling, the President of Wireless at Rogers, expressed the company’s dedication to providing a seamless wireless experience across Eastern Ontario. Through long-term investments and their commitment to expanding Canada’s largest 5G wireless network, Rogers is determined to ensure that all Canadians have access to high-quality connectivity.
