Riot Games is working on a new fighting game that will target to a wide audience. Tom Cannon, the co-founder of Evo fighting game tournament who is currently working for Riot has confirmed this news on Friday at Evo 2019. This new fighting game will be the first all-new project for Riot since the release of League of Legends in 2009.
“Back in 2016, when we joined forces with Riot, I said that we were going to go in the hole for a while,” Cannon said, “and I want to be able to let people in on maybe the worst kept secret in the universe, which is I can confirm that we are working on a fighting game for Riot.”
Riot Games acquired Radiant Entertainment, Cannon’s own studio which he founded with his brother Tony Cannon, in 2016. At that time, Radiant was working on a PC fighting game at the time called Rising Thunder, which featured giant robots battling in one-on-one fights.
However, Cannon didn’t reveal much about the new fighting game, he did mention that it would strive to have broad appeal. Meanwhile, the Evo fighting game championship is happening this weekend, Aug. 2-4, in Las Vegas.
