Resurrecting the MCU: An Analysis on the Potential of ‘Brave New World’

Captain America: Brave New World is set to be the 34th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the beginning of the second half of Phase Five of the Multiverse Saga. The previous phase failed to impress, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was widely considered the first real crack in Marvel’s armor, so Phase Five is the perfect chance to turn things around. James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has already kickstarted the process, but as an isolated film, it doesn’t necessarily indicate that the entire franchise is back on track.

Fortunately, the anticipation for Anthony Mackie’s first solo outing as the Sentinel of Justice is higher than ever, especially with big changes in store, including Liv Tyler’s long-awaited return, Harrison Ford debuting as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, and a new title change. Here are eight ways Marvel could breathe life into the MCU:

1. Address the plot hole from Eternals surrounding the Celestial Tiamut.
2. Bring in Adamantium and the X-Men.
3. Introduce the New Avengers.
4. Tease the Weapon X program.
5. Introduce the Sentry in a post-credit scene.
6. Give a Wolverine tease in a post-credit scene.
7. Complete Thaddeus Ross’ Red Hulk storyline.
8. Introduce the Young Avengers.

While it may seem like a lot to cover in one movie, these can easily be hinted at and then paid off in other films, such as Deadpool 3 and Thunderbolts. It’s time to start building anticipation as the audience is getting impatient.
