Reportedly, Apple is already developing a more affordable Vision Pro VR/AR headset.

Apple’s groundbreaking Vision Pro virtual reality/augmented reality (VR/AR) headset, which comes with a hefty price tag of $3,499 USD (approximately $4,700 CAD), was recently launched. However, there are already whispers of a more affordable version in the works. While this news may excite some, interested buyers should not hold their breath as the cheaper version may not hit the market until the end of 2025, according to Mark Gurman’s Bloomberg Power On newsletter. The less expensive version, which may have reduced build quality and cheaper displays, will not replace the Vision Pro but will be an addition to the lineup similar to the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Pro. Apple wants the headset to retain its innovative features, including hand and eye tracking and the EyeSight external displays, which distinguish its VR/AR technology from the competition. The cheaper version is tentatively referred to as “Apple Vision” or “Vision One” while the price point is still unknown. However, Apple may aim for a price point under $2,000, given that competitors such as Meta Quest Pro and Sony’s PlayStation VR2 fall within this range.

In addition to the budget version, Apple is reportedly developing a second-generation version of the Vision Pro with a faster processor. Although the launch date is unknown, it is expected to be at least a few years away from the recent launch of the first-generation headset.
