Remnant II – How to Unlock All of the Game’s Archetypes

One of the primary focuses of the newly released RPG-shooter game Remnant II is the art of build crafting, which revolves around the game’s new Archetypes. When starting the game, players have the option to choose from four Archetypes (or five if they pre-ordered), but they have the opportunity to unlock ten or more additional Archetypes and the ability to switch or combine them. To unlock a new Archetype or create a dual-class character, players must obtain a special item called an “Engram.” These Engrams are equippable items crafted by a character named Wallace, who can be found on the crane in the Ward 13 hub. To craft an Engram, players must exchange 10 Lumenite Crystals, 1000 Scrap, and a specific special item. Each special item is obtained in a different way. Here is a guide on how to acquire all the Engrams necessary to unlock any Archetype in Remnant II:

Challenger Archetype: Engram needed – Steel Enswell; Special crafting item needed – Old Metal Tool. The Old Metal Tool can be purchased from Reggie in the Ward 13 hub for 1500 Scrap.

Hunter Archetype: Engram needed – Sniper War Medal; Special crafting item needed – Rusty Medal. The Rusty Medal can be purchased from Brabus in the Ward 13 hub for 1500 Scrap.

Medic Archetype: Engram needed – Caduceus Idol; Special crafting item needed – Medic Pin. The Medic Pin can be purchased from Dr. Norah in the Ward 13 hub for 1500 Scrap.

Handler Archetype: Engram needed – Silent Whistle; Special crafting item needed – Old Whistle. The Old Whistle can be purchased from Mudtooth in the Ward 13 hub for 1500 Scrap. Make sure to go through Mudtooth’s entire initial dialogue tree to unlock his shop.

Gunslinger Archetype: Engram needed – Iron Cylinder; Special crafting item needed – Worn Cylinder. If you pre-ordered Remnant II, you can choose the Gunslinger Archetype at the beginning of the game. Otherwise, you must complete the second world in the game and listen to Mudtooth’s stories. After hearing around 10 stories, Mudtooth will reward you with the Worn Cylinder.

Alchemist Archetype: Engram needed – Philosopher’s Stone; Special crafting item needed – Mysterious Stone. To obtain the Mysterious Stone, head to the Losomn region in one of the city areas. Look for a partly broken open sewer grate and stand close to it. You may be randomly dragged into it by a Manticora. Kill the Manticora in its bone-filled nest to obtain the Mysterious Stone.

Explorer Archetype: Engram needed – Golden Compass; Special crafting item needed – Broken Compass. Defeat Annihilation, the main World Boss in the Root Earth region, to obtain the Broken Compass.

Summoner Archetype: Engram needed – Tome of The Bringer; Special crafting item needed – Faded Grimoire. To obtain the Faded Grimoire, head to the Yaesha region and find the Bloodmoon Altar. Trade in Blood Moon Essence at the altar to craft the Faded Grimoire. Blood Moon Essence can be acquired by shooting down small purple orbs floating around Yaesha.

Engineer Archetype: Engram needed – Drzyr Calliper; Special crafting item needed – Alien Device. Go to the N’Erud region and specifically The Eon Vault area to find the Titan’s Reach Waystone. Search the area to find the Alien Device. Use Purified Salve (available for purchase from Dr. Norah) to protect yourself from the toxic gas in the area.

Invader Archetype: Engram needed – Serrated Tooth Blade; Special crafting item needed – Wooden Shiv. Acquiring the Wooden Shiv involves multiple specific steps. For detailed instructions, refer to our separate guide on finding the Wooden Shiv.

Archon Archetype: Engram needed – ???; Special crafting item needed – ???. The method to unlock the Archon Archetype has not been discovered yet. It is possible that a puzzle in the Labyrinth needs to be solved to obtain the Strange Box crafting item. If this puzzle is solved in the future, we will update this guide.

These are the methods to unlock the various Archetypes in Remnant II. The game is currently available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5. For more Remnant II guides, visit Wccftech. Stay tuned for a full review of the game.
