Disney has made a slew of release date changes, delaying and rescheduling numerous high-profile projects, from live-action Disney remakes to highly anticipated Marvel projects. Among the affected films is the much-anticipated Deadpool 3, previously scheduled for release on November 8, 2024; however, the film’s release date has now been moved up to May 4, 2024, six months ahead of its original release date.
For fans of the snarky meta superhero, this news is certainly welcome, given that it has been five years since Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool hit theaters. Filming for the project commenced late last month, amid the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike, which has had a considerable impact on Disney’s latest shuffle in its film release schedule. The picture shall feature familiar faces such as Karan Soni and Leslie Uggams, as well as Rob Delaney, who will reprise his role as Human X force member Peter. However, Zazie Beetz, who played the lucky Domino in Deadpool 2, shall not return to the project.
Perhaps the most thrilling addition to the film’s cast is Hugh Jackman, who will return to the screen as Wolverine. Apart from the prospect of Jackman bringing Wolverine back to the screen, fans are excited to see the humorous fireworks that will no doubt erupt when Jackman and Reynolds once again share the screen. The two actors have entertained audiences for some time with their online sparring and quippy remarks on Twitter. It has been confirmed that Jackman’s Wolverine will have a similar, and perhaps more serious, beef with Reynolds’ Deadpool.
Shawn Levy is directing Deadpool 3, a script written by Levy, Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Wendy Molyneux, Paul Wernick, and Lizzie Molyneux. The film shall debut in theaters on May 4, 2024.
