Upon the release of The Flash in theaters, there was anticipation as to how successful it would be at the box office. Unfortunately, the movie’s performance has fallen short of expectations. This outcome is ironic considering the film’s protagonist, known for his quickness, and its exploration of alternate realities and multiple versions of a character. This has raised concerns about the potential fate of Deadpool 3.
The disappointing reception of The Flash marks a setback for DC, who has struggled to release a well-received film since The Batman. Additionally, The Flash is not even part of the DC Extended Universe. Despite being touted as one of the greatest superhero films, it has not translated into significant ticket sales.
The plot of The Flash involves time travel, saving a deceased individual, alternate timelines, encountering different versions of oneself, and a collapse of multiple realities. Similarly, Deadpool 3 may share some similarities based on an early plotline that suggests time travel and various versions of the main character. If audiences find this storyline uninteresting, it could suffer the same fate as The Flash.

This potential parallel raises concerns about the performance of Deadpool 3. The film could introduce the X-Men into the MCU or simply wrap up its own narrative.
The ongoing writer’s strike is another factor contributing to anxiety surrounding Deadpool 3. Despite Ryan Reynolds being a member of the Writers Guild of America (WGA), the production is proceeding. However, Reynolds may face limitations due to the strike’s rules, preventing his signature ad-libbing and improvisation. The absence of his famous witticisms raises questions about the film’s outcome.
Despite these concerns, Deadpool 3 possesses several attributes that may enable it to avoid the pitfalls experienced by The Flash. Ryan Reynolds is a highly regarded and commercially successful actor, in stark contrast to Ezra Miller, who has faced controversy. Additionally, the long-desired team-up of Jackman’s Wolverine and Reynolds’ Deadpool has excited fans. With these factors in mind, it is expected that Deadpool 3 will fare better, but given the growing fatigue with superhero movies, its success remains uncertain. The film is scheduled to be released on May 3, 2024.
