Just after its launch in India in May 2018, Realme started giving a tough competition to the Redmi series phones. Just after a month ago, the company launched the Realme 3 smartphone to take on Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 7. And now, the company has launched the Realme 3 Pro to give a tough fight to the Redmi Note 7 Pro.

Realme 3 Pro is the latest flagship phone of Realme to launch in India. This phone is loaded with tons of great features making it a good competitor to  Redmi Note 7 which gained a huge response in the country. Although the company has fulled this phone with the latest technology, beating Redmi Note 7 Pro will not be an easy task for Realme 3 Pro as Xiaomi has already made a stronger base in the Indian market. So today, we will review it find out, is it really worth to consider Realme 3 Pro instead of Redmi Note 7 Pro? Does it really feed the hunger of mid-rangers tech enthusiasts? Let’s take a deeper look at this!

Build Quality and Design

At first sight, you might get confused between Realme 3 Pro and Realme 2 Pro as both of the devices shares almost similar design. However, if you get a closer look at the device, you get to know the differences among them. It comes with a polycarbonate body having a curved back panel which slightly bends towards the sides.

Realme has shown its creativity in the back panel and has delivered some new colors and a 3D-speedway design which looks amazing and shines when light strikes on it. Realme 3 Pro is quite tall in length but is narrow from sides making it easier to fit in your pocket. It also shares slim bezels measuring just 8.3mm in thickness and is quite lightweight too weigh just 172gram.

Buttons on this phone are intelligently placed that easily reach out to the fingers. At the right side of the body, there placed the power button while at the left you’ll find volume buttons. At the bottom of the body, there placed a 3.5mm headphone socket, Micro-USB port, microphone, and a single speaker while at the top, the only secondary microphone is placed. Realme 3 Pro has two Nano SIM card slots with an extra slot for MicroSD card which lets you to runs two SIM cards as well as a MicroSD card at the same time.

Now coming to its display, Realme 3 Pro sports a  6.3-inch FHD+ (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution display with 89.35 percent screen-to-body ratio. At the top of the display, there you’ll find the dewdrop notch where the selfie camera is placed. Just above the front-facing camera, the earpiece is placed. In addition, the screen is further protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 to protect it from minor scratches and bumps.

Specification and Software

With the theme of ‘Speed’ for Realme 3 Pro, the company has shipped this phone with a great choice of processor. The Realme 3 Pro is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC which paired with an Adreno 616 GPU and is clocked up to 2.2 GHz. If we consider the CPU power, Redmi Note 7 Pro is still ahead in the race with Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 SoC. But the advantage of SD 710 over SD 675 is the addition of a better-integrated graphics capability as it is built at 10nm fabrication process.

Realme 3 Pro comes in two variants, first one is 4GB RAM + 64GB inbuilt storage and other is 6GB RAM + 128GB inbuilt storage. In both of the variants, the storage capacity can be increased up to 256GB by an external MicroSD card. As mentioned above, Realme 3 Pro comes with full capacity SIM tray which means, you can use two NANO SIM cards with an external MicroSD card at the same time. The phone also comes with good connectivity options as it includes dual 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5, FM radio, USB-OTG, GPS, and the standard suite of sensors.

Furthermore, Realme 3 Pro runs on the latest ColorOS 6, which is based on the latest Android 9 Pie. The phone comes with a couple of pre-installed apps like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and also have some third-[arty apps like Webnovel, NewsPoint, ShareChat, etc, which can be uninstalled at a later stage. The latest version of ColorOS features a clean and immersive UI making it easier for the user to operate to the functionality of the phone.

Performance, Camera, and Battery Life

As I mentioned above, Realme 3 Pro comes with Snapdragon 710 SoC which is one among the good mid-range performer. It easily handles the multi-tasking without any lag. While testing, we run a couple of apps simultaneously and got no lag at all which was amazing at this price range.

The company has promised to deliver this phone with Widevine L1 DRM certification in the later update which will allow this smartphone to stream videos from streaming sites such as Netflix at a higher resolution than HD. Realme 3 Pro also features 960fps slow-motion recording feature which is rarely found in the device at this price range. This feature will also be available via an update.

All of the above, Realme 3 Pro is going to be the best choice of gamers looking at the best gaming device under 20K. Realme 3 Pro is intelligently crafted looking over to the demand of high profile gaming on Mobile. This phone easily runs heavy games without any lag. Specifically, PUBG Mobile is already preset to the High graphics setting and runs without any sign of lag. In the same way, it smoothly runs the Asphalt 9: Legends and other high-end games without any frame drop issue which is amazing at this price segment.

Now coming to the camera department, Realme 3 Pro packs a dual-rear camera setup which includes a 16 MP Sony IMX 519 primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture and a 5 MP secondary depth sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. Although Realme 3 Pro doesn’t carry a 48-megapixel sensor but has a 16MP Sony IMX 519 sensor which meant for delivering high-quality shots. This is the same sensor which we found in some premium phones like OnePlus 6T.

Realme 3 Pro captures good shots during daylight with a good set of details and depth. Shots taken from Realme 3 Pro were sharp, vivid, and has good contrast and detail. Not only in daylight But Realme 3 Pro is also a good performer too in low-light situation. It takes fairly good sets of pictures with good clarity and sharpness. In simple words, the performance of the rear camera truly satisfied us as it delivers more than what it’s price ask.

At the front, Realme 3 Pro has a 25-megapixel selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture. During the daylight, the selfie camera also performed well and captured good shots, but unfortunately, during the low light situation, the front-facing camera was not much effective. Shots taken from the front camera were filled with noise and didn’t have good details in them. Also, the bokeh of the phone was not much effective too. So overall, we were somehow disappointed with the selfie camera.

Apart from this, Realme 3 Pro can shoot 4K videos but it didn’t have stabilization making it shaky while shooting videos. However, during the daytime, it shoots good videos with great details and clarity but during the low light situation, there you will see slightly frame-drops in the videos. Overall, Realme 3 Pro packs an average camera setup but at this price some of its features are amazing.

At another end, Realme 3 Pro is fuelled by 4,045mAh battery which company claims to deliver 7 hours of non-stop PUBG, 9.5 hours of YouTube, 126 hours of Music, and 18.3 hours of web browsing. Additionally, Realme 3 Pro comes with VOOC Flash Charge 3.0 fast charging support to charge this phone from 0 to 75 percent in just an hour.

Verdict

Realme 3 Pro is one of the finest devices at this price range especially for gamers who are looking for a good gaming device under a concise budget of Rs. 20,000. Apart from some of its downfalls, Realme 3 Pro is a great device having a good set of specifications, software, huge battery life, and good performance.
