Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 10nm SoC Announced for Mid-Range Smartphones


Qualcomm has announced its latest mid-range processor – The Qualcomm Snapdragon 670, as the successor of Snapdragon 660. The Snapdragon 670 built on 10nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 615 GPU and improved AI Engine. The 670 is more similar in specs with recently launched 710 rather than its predecessor 660.

With the launch of Snapdragon 710 Mobile Platform, Qualcomm targeted to bring power packed high performing processor to the mid-range smartphones and now this segment would be strengthened by Snapdragon 670.

The Snapdragon 670 uses 3rd generation AI Engine increasing performance by 1.8x AI in AI applications and improvement of 15 percent would be recorded in CPU performance and around 25 percent faster performance in graphics paired with new Adreno 615 GPU in comparison to its predecessor 660.

It has been provided with new 14-bit Qualcomm Spectra 250 ISP for improved low light photography, noise reduction, fast autofocus, image stabilization and more. It also supports Ultra HD Video Capture, a feature that uses up to 30 percent
less power than its predecessor.

The new Snapdragon 670 could support up to full-HD+ displays in addition to up to 4K support for external displays and could support up to 16GB of RAM as well as eMMC and UFS 2.1 storage. Provided with the X12 LTE modem on the SoC enables auto-switch between LTE and Wi-Fi to choose between the two with better signal and high speed and is support an enormous downloading speed up to 600Mbps while uploading speed could reach a maximum of 150Mbps.

Among other specifications fuelling the Snapdragon 670 are zero shutter Lag, Hybrid Autofocus,  Qualcomm Hexagon 685 DSP, Qualcomm All-Ways Aware technology, QZSS, and SBAS and Bluetooth 5 and Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ technology.
