Possible revision: “Flat Display Expected for the Pixel 8 Pro: What to Anticipate”

If you’ve been intrigued by Google’s Pixel Pro line but hesitant about the curved display of the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, then the upcoming Pixel 8 Pro might catch your attention. A recent article revealed that Google’s next flagship will feature a flat display, putting your worries to rest.

Leaker Kamila Wojciechowska provided some details about the Pixel 8 Pro. It’s said to sport a 6.7-inch OLED panel sourced from Samsung, with a resolution of 1,344 x 2,992 and a pixel density of 490 PPI. Although slightly smaller than the current Pixel 7 Pro’s curved display, which offers a 6.71-inch screen with a resolution of 1,440 x 3,120 and a pixel density of 512 PPI, the Pixel 8 Pro’s screen will have a significant improvement in brightness. It will reach a peak of 1,600 nits, compared to the Pixel 7 Pro’s 1,000 nits, especially when displaying HDR content. What’s more, the new display will have a smoother transition between refresh rates due to its 120Hz panel.

Meanwhile, the Pixel 8 will also feature a new display, with an interesting twist. The device will have a smaller screen than the Pixel 7, according to Android Authority. The Pixel 8 is expected to ship with a 6.17-inch screen and a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400. Surprisingly, this is the same resolution as the Pixel 7’s 6.31-inch screen, resulting in a higher dot pitch. Additionally, the Pixel 8’s screen will offer 1,400 nits of peak brightness and a 120Hz refresh rate, an upgrade from the Pixel 7’s 90Hz. This change in display size may be related to rumors that the Pixel 8 will be Google’s last phone in the a-Series.

Both the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro will feature more rounded corners than their predecessors, as reported by Android Authority and leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer. This design adjustment aims to enhance one-handed usability. With their new displays and improved camera sensors, the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro are shaping up to be impressive devices. As the release date approaches, expect more information to emerge about these highly anticipated smartphones.
