Popular Emiraty Chat App, ToTok Is a Secret Spy Tool

United Arab Emirate has restricted popular messaging and video calling apps such as Skype, WhatsApp etc. They don’t let users to use these apps for various reasons. As an alternative app, people of the UAE are using ToTok app. ToTok is a popular chatting app that also lets users make video calls etc.

According to the US Officials reports, ToTok is not just a normal messaging app, but it is actually a spying tool. The app is widely popular not just in the UAE but also quite popular in Asia, Europe and African countries. With billions of its downloads across the globe, it is currently one of the best messaging apps which are available for Android and iOS mobile platforms.

Soon after hearing the reports from the US Intelligence Officials, Apple and Google have removed the app from their official App Store and Play Store. However, the app will still be used as a spying tool if you have already installed it on a respective Android or iOS device. Hence, you are requested to remove or uninstall the app from your device.

According to the fresh reports, the Government of the UAE is fetching the information of the users by using the current locations, conversations of voice and texts as well as other online social network connections using the data provided in the app by the users.

If you are a technical person, then you should go to the official page of the app and check about their Privacy page. They do not offer end-to-end encryption and this is where you all fall down. The advertising tagline of the app says, “fast and secure calling and messaging app,” but since it doesn’t offer end-to-end encryption, the data of the users can be fetched and accessed by the government using different spying tools and software.

If you are using the ToTok app regularly, then you should uninstall it right away to stop the government from spying your personal chats, voice messages and other communications as well as your current location.
