PBS Announces Fall Release Date for Season 2 of ‘World on Fire’

Prepare for the return of the critically acclaimed series World on Fire as it comes back to PBS on Sunday, October 15 at 9 p.m. ET. After a four-year hiatus, fans can finally dive back into the captivating story that left them hanging at the end of the first season in 2019. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the production of Season 2 faced significant delays.

Similar to the first season, the upcoming episodes of World on Fire will take viewers on a captivating journey into the heart of World War II. The story picks up just a few months after the events of Season 1, with the audience returning to the cities of Paris, Manchester, Berlin, Dunkirk, Warsaw, and the unforgiving North African desert. With Nazi Germany becoming even stronger, Britain finds itself at the epicenter of devastating blitzkrieg attacks.

While we bid farewell to the characters played by Sean Bean and Helen Hunt, we can look forward to the return of Jonah Hauer-King from The Little Mermaid as Harry Chase, a former interpreter who now serves in the Royal Air Force, ready to protect his country at all costs. Lesley Manville (Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris, The Crown) returns as Robina Chase, Harry’s mother, who shields herself from the horrors surrounding the rest of Britain due to her privileged status. The cast also includes the return of Parker Sawyers from A Discovery of Witches as musician Albert Fallou, and Eugénie Derouand as nurse Henriette Guillbert, providing care to those suffering in Paris. Familiar faces like Zofia Wichlacz, Cel Spellman, Julia Brown, Blake Harrison, and Eryk Biedunkiewicz will also make a comeback, alongside newcomers Gregg Sulkin, Ahad Raza, Mark Bonnar, and Miriam Schiweck.
