‘Payday 3’ to Feature a Mandatory Online Component for Players

Payday 3, the highly anticipated game that offers both single-player and multiplayer modes, will require a constant internet connection to support cross-progression and cross-play features.

In a recent livestream, Starbreeze global brand director Almir Listo stated that players will be able to enjoy the game solo, but an internet connection is necessary due to the game being developed in Unreal Engine and implementing cross-progression and cross-play capabilities.

This is a departure from previous games in the series, such as Payday 1 and Payday 2, which allowed players to rely on AI teammates or attempt to complete heists on their own. As a result, many fans are disappointed as this requirement may exclude players with unstable or shared internet connections.

While some fans argue that an “always online” requirement has benefits like easier file portability and increased cheat protection, other players are concerned about the future. They worry about what will happen to the game’s servers once Starbreeze is finished with Payday 3, potentially rendering physical copies useless.

The Payday community has been eagerly awaiting the next installment in the series for over a decade. The game follows the original members Chains, Hoxton, Dallas, and Wolf as they return to a life of crime in New York, exploring themes of widespread surveillance and cryptocurrency.

Recently, a new trailer confirmed that Payday 3 is set to launch in September.

Meanwhile, in other gaming news, developers working on Starfield are kindly requesting fans to refrain from bombarding them with numerous questions about the RPG.
