The OnePlus Z which is reportedly the ‘Lite’ version of OnePlus 8 series wasn’t launched with their siblings on April 14 event. However, a new leak suggests that the company will launch the OnePlus Z as soon as in July.
This information came from a well-known tipster, Max J. He has a very good track record. We must note that he is the same tipster who revealed that the OnePlus 8 Pro will support wireless charging, and much more.
Maz J shared this info via his Twitter account. He shared a sketch of the device with a huge letter ‘Z’ on the display. On the left side, you can see the word ‘July’ and on the right ‘2020’. Although OnePlus never confirmed that it is working on a “lite” model, looking at the track record of the tipster, we believe this information to be legit.

In terms of a physical overview of the phone, you can see the center-aligned punch hole for the selfie camera. However, this is completely different from the other two smartphones from the OnePlus 8 series which comes with a camera hole aligned at the top-left corner of the display. In addition to this, the phone is seen sporting a flat display instead of a curved one.
Since it is the Lite version of the OnePlus 8 series, the OnePlus Z is expected to lie in mid-range smartphones. Some of the previous rumors suggest that the OnePlus Z will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1000L processor. That is the company’s most powerful chip to date. However, it’s still not confirmed by any trusted source. There is a finite probability that the phone could be powered by the Snapdragon 765G SoC.
Considering earlier leaked images of the phone, the OnePlus Z will be made out of metal and glass just like the other two phones of the series. It will include three vertically-aligned cameras on the back and an in-display fingerprint scanner. Leaked images also show the camera one OnePlus Z will be aligned at the top-left corner of the phone making it different from its siblings which comes with a center-aligned rear camera module.
Apart from this, some renders suggest that the OnePlus Z will include an OLED display, and it will offer a 90Hz refresh rate. It will probably include a 6.4 or 6.5-inch full-HD+ display. Well, all these details are still unconfirmed from the company’s end. So, we will have a better look at them when the company will launch this phone in July.
