OnePlus, a tech company based in Shenzhen, China, is expanding its product lineup by entering the PC peripheral market.
Recently, OnePlus introduced its first mechanical keyboard called the Keyboard 81 Pro. This accessory is based on the highly acclaimed Keychron Q1 Pro mechanical keyboard. OnePlus has made some design and feature adjustments to offer a unique and appealing option.
The OnePlus keyboard is available in two color options: dark grey and light grey. It features a sturdy aluminum frame, a gasket-mounted polycarbonate switch plate, hot-swappable switches, and full programmability through software. However, it does not support a 2.4GHz connection mode and is limited to Bluetooth for wireless connections.
What sets OnePlus’ variant apart from the standard Keychron Q1 Pro is the inclusion of a kickstand, allowing users to adjust the keyboard’s angle for improved comfort. Additionally, as reported by The Verge, the Keyboard 81 Pro features custom-branded switches that match the keyboard’s color scheme. It is available with Winter Bonfire switches, which are tactile switches with red stems, or Summer Breeze switches, which are linear switches with navy blue stems.
According to The Verge’s review, the OnePlus switches offer a subtle but noticeable difference in feel compared to the Cherry MX switches that come with the Keychron Q1 Pro. The OnePlus switches feel slightly heavier and deeper.
In Canada, the standard Keychron Q1 Pro is priced at $276. If you’re already a fan of the Keychron Q1 Pro and have a flexible budget, the OnePlus Keyboard 81 Pro could be an excellent alternative at $299.
