OnePlus 8 Pro: Snapdragon 865 SoC, LPDDR5 RAM, and UFS 3.0 storage Confirmed by CEO Pete Lau


After a series of rumors and leaks, OnePlus has finally confirmed that its upcoming flagship – OnePlus 8 series will be launched on April 14. Since the world is going through the Coronavirus pandemic, the launch event will be hosted online by the company.

In addition to revealing the launch date of the OnePlus 8 series, the company has also revealed some key features of OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro smartphones. Today, in a new forum post, the company’s founder and CEO Pete Lau talk about improvements in the OnePlus 8 phones revealing some key details of it.

Pete Lau confirms that the OnePlus 8 series will be powered by top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC which offers a remarkable increment in the CPU and GPU performance by 25 percent and also reduces the power consumption by 25 percent as compared to its predecessor. Pete also adds that its AI performance is at least twice as fast as its predecessor, due to the Hexagon 698 DSP, which also offers 35 percent better power efficiency.

Apart from this, the OnePlus 8 series will be coupled with LPDDR5 RAM. These smartphones will be the first from the company to packed with LPDDR5 RAM. This latest generation RAM offers transfer rate with a blazing 6,400Mbps at bandwidth as high as 51.2GB/s and 45 percent less power compared to its predecessor.

In the storage department, the phone will come with the UFS 3.0 flash storage which can handle a blazing read/write speed up to 1,700MB/s. The company has also introduced Turbo Write and Host Performance Booster to gove a boost to its performance.

Well, these were the specs that the company’s CEO revealed today in the forum. Earlier, OnePlus has already confirmed that the OnePlus 8 series will come with the newly announced 120Hz refresh rate display. It will also come with support for 5G networking technology.
