OnePlus 6 With FHD+ Notch Display, Snapdragon 845 Launched
OnePlus has finally launched its much-hyped flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 6, at an event in London. The smartphone comes with the price tag of $529 (Rs. 35,825 approx.) for the 64GB storage variant, $579 (Rs. 39,210 approx.) for the 128GB storage and $629 (Rs. 42,600 approx.) for the top-end 256GB storage option. It comes in Mirror Black, Midnight Black, and Silk White colour options. The first two colour variants and will become available in open sales from May 22, with pop-up stores planned from May 21. The Silk White Limited Edition will be available only from June 5 onwards.
The major highlight of the OnePlus 6 is the all new glass body. After OnePlus X, it is the second smartphone from OnePlus to come glass body. The dual cameras on the rear are now placed in the top middle position along with a dual LED flash. On the front, we can see an iPhone X-like notch display. The alert slider position is now changed from left edge to right, while the volume rockers stay on the left like the previous OnePlus phones. The smartphone is water resistant too, but the company hasn’t revealed an official IP certification.
Talking about the specifications, the OnePlus 6 runs on OxygenOS 5.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system. It sports a 6.28-inch Full HD+ (2280×1080 pixels) AMOLED 19:9 display with the protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top. The smartphone is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 609 GPU. It offers three memory configurations – 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM with 64GB of UFS 2.1 internal storage, 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM with 128GB of UFS 2.1 internal storage, and 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM with 256GB of UFS 2.1 internal storage. There will be no MicroSD card support for expanding the storage.
For photography, the OnePlus 6 comes equipped with a dual rear camera setup with a combination of a 16MP Sony IMX376K primary sensor (1.22µm pixel size, OIS, EIS, and f/1.7 aperture) and 20MP Sony IMX 519 secondary sensor (1.0µm pixel size and f/1.7 aperture) for depth information. It can record 4K videos at 60 fps and 720p super slow motion videos at 480 fps. On the front, it has a 16MP Sony IMX 371 sensor with f/2.0 aperture and 1.0μm pixel size. The front camera also offers Portrait Mode using a new AI algorithm to give a depth-of-field effect. It also has Face Unlock feature that can unlock the phone in 0.4 seconds.
The OnePlus 6 is fueled by a 3300mAh battery with Dash Charge technology, which gives a day’s power in half hour. Connectivity options include Dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, WiFi, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C port. Sensors on board include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, gyroscope, and proximity sensor. There is also a fingerprint scanner at the back which claims to unlock the phone in just 0.2 seconds. It measures 155.7 x 75.4 x 7.75 mm and weighs 177 grams.
