OnePlus 5 Gets Face Unlock Feature with OxygenOS Beta 3

Last week, OnePlus has released the OxygenOS 5.0 OTA update for the OnePlus 5 smartphone. Along with the update, company’s co-founder Carl Pei said that due to popular demand, Face Unlock will be implemented in OnePlus 5 as well. To fulfill the promise the feature is now rolling out for users enrolled in the OxygenOS beta program.

The new update brings the Face Unlock feature as well as the Google’s latest December security patch. OxygenOS open beta 3 brings several other improvements and many bug fixes. Below the full changelog.

  • Added app shortcut on Launcher.

  • Added Face Unlock;
  • Optimizations for vibrations;
  • Fixed connection issue of 5G Wi-Fi;
  • General bug fixes and improvements;
  • Updated Android security patch for December.

The update may take a while as it pushed out in waves, so it may take a while to propagate to all OnePlus 5 devices. The Beta 3 weighs 106MB being a rather small update.
