Nvidia’s upcoming RTX 4070 GPU is rumored to hit the market soon, although the company has not released any official announcements about it yet. However, it has confirmed its existence in a subtle way by including it in a slide showcasing Nvidia Reflex, which is set to debut in Counter-Strike 2. This suggests that the RTX 4070 will be available from various retailers shortly. It is unclear if Nvidia intended to reveal the RTX 4070 in this way.
Nvidia Reflex is designed to reduce latency in games and improve responsiveness. First-person shooter games, like Counter-Strike, benefit the most from lower latency. However, the older versions of CS:GO do not have access to Reflex. Nvidia worked with Valve to bring Reflex technology to Counter-Strike 2, scheduled for release later this year. Nvidia showcased the performance of Reflex in the upcoming game by comparing three GPUs. The GTX 1060, RTX 3060, and the unannounced RTX 4070, which is rumored to have 5,888 CUDA cores and 12GB of GDDR6X memory and a price tag of $600. The slide suggests that the RTX 4070 is the most responsive of the three GPUs tested, with latency as low as 15ms with or without Reflex.
Although the choice of GPUs for the demo was unusual, including the GTX 1060 only highlighted the RTX 4070’s superiority by comparison. Reflex is available on graphic cards from the GTX 900 series and above, which might explain why GTX 1060 was included. The rumored release date for the RTX 4070 is April 13, but Nvidia has not confirmed it officially. The unassuming way in which Nvidia confirmed the existence of the RTX 4070 implies that the announcement may not have been intentional and does little to increase the hype for the new GPU.
