Now running – an online murder mystery tie-in for Baldur’s Gate 3

Baldur’s Gate 3 may still be a distant prospect, but Larian Studios has a special treat for fans in the meantime. Introducing “Blood in Baldur’s Gate,” an immersive online murder-mystery RPG that serves as a prelude to the highly anticipated release.

Set 15 years prior to the events of Baldur’s Gate 3, Blood In Baldur’s Gate delves into a string of killings plaguing the city. Armed with only fragmented clues, players must unravel the secrets behind these gruesome murders and prevent the next strike.

To crack the case, players embark on a journey through various locations, deciding collectively through voting which path to pursue. While only a few areas have been unlocked thus far, the democratic approach enables players to theorize and shape the course of the investigation.

This intriguing experiment piques my curiosity as to how it will tie into the grandiose release of Baldur’s Gate. Given the substantial gap between this murder mystery and the start of Baldur’s Gate 3, it offers ample opportunities to incorporate elements from both the new game and its predecessors.

A Triumphant Return to the Mythical Realm of Baldur’s Gate

After a prolonged absence, the beloved Baldur’s Gate series resurfaces in the capable hands of Larian Studios. This renowned development house has diligently crafted a colossal RPG over the past few years, culminating in the full release scheduled for August 31 on PC and PlayStation 5.

While Xbox enthusiasts may feel momentarily left out, rest assured that Larian is working on an Xbox version, even though no official announcement has been made at this time. With the imminent launches of Final Fantasy XVI and Baldur’s Gate 3 in August, followed closely by the highly anticipated Starfield, RPG enthusiasts have an abundance of excitement awaiting them.
