Nokia 8.1 launched with Snapdragon 710 SoC: Price, Specifications and More


HMD Global has today launched the global version of its Nokia X7 smartphone dubbed as Nokia 8.1 at an event held in Dubai. The main highlights of the smartphone include ZEISS branded dual rear cameras, 18.7:9 fullView display with a notch on top, and the pure Android operating system based on Android One program. This means that the device is certified by Google to provide an optimised Android experience with stock Android, and quick version updates. It features a series-6000 magnesium alloy frame sandwiched between glass panels on the front and rear sides.

Nokia 8.1 Pricing and Availability

The Nokia 8.1 comes with the starting price of EUR 399 ($ 450 / Rs. 31,900 approx.) and will be available on sale starting mid-December. While in UAE, the smartphone priced at AED 1,500 and goes on pre-orders starting today and will be available to purchase starting December 15. It will reach the rest of the Middle East on December 20. It will be made available in Blue/ ilver, Steel/Copper and Iron/Steel colour options.

Nokia 8.1 Specifications

The Nokia 8.1 runs on Android 9.0 Pie operating system and sports a 6.18” Full HD+ (2246 x 1080 pixels) 18.7:9 IPS LCD display with 500 nits brightness and 96% NTSC Color Gamut. The smartphone is powered by a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 616 GPU. As mentioned above, it offers 4GB of RAM  and 64GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 400GB via microSD card.

For photography, the Nokia 8.1 comes equipped with a dual rear camera setup with a combination of a 12MP primary Sony IMX363 sensor with  f/1.8 aperture, 1.4μm pixels, and a 13MP secondary sensor with f/2.2 aperture and dual-tone LED flash. The rear cameras are equipped with features like Optical Image Stabilization, dual PD autofocus, AI scene detection and optimized low-light photography. On the front, it has a 20MP selfie shooter with f/2.0 and AI features like beauty mode, portrait mode and studio lights, AI  expressions and new dual-view mode.

The Nokia 8.1 is fuelled by a 3400mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging support. Connectivity options include Dual-SIM support, Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS + GLONASS, 3.5mm audio jack and USB-C port. There is also a fingerprint scanner at the back. The phone measures 154.8×75.76×7.97 mm and weighs 185 grams.
