A new installment of the beloved animated series Castlevania is set to debut on Netflix. Powerhouse Animation Studios has revealed that Castlevania: Nocturne will premiere on September 28.
Earlier today, the official Castlevania Twitter account shared a teaser image announcing the confirmed release date. Additionally, fans can expect a trailer for Castlevania: Nocturne on July 27.

Castlevania: Nocturne will follow the story of Richter Belmont, who was the main protagonist in Castlevania: Rondo of Blood and made appearances in other games of the franchise. Although details are limited, the upcoming trailer is expected to shed light on the high stakes of the series.
The original Castlevania series from Powerhouse Animation Studios revolved around the characters Trevor Belmont, Sypha Belnades, and Alucard, loosely adapting the storyline of Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse. The series took its own creative direction while incorporating elements from various Castlevania games dating back to Curse of Darkness in 2005. Personally, I found it to be an exceptional series, and the castle entrance fight in Season 2 remains a highlight for me.
Streaming Landscape
It’s important to note that the release of this series coincides with a complex period for the streaming industry. The Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) are currently on strike due to several issues, including disputes with streaming companies. Animated work is also affected by this conflict, as observed by late-night host Stephen Colbert during a WGA animation rally recently.
As of now, neither the WGA nor SAG-AFTRA have called for a boycott, so the release of Castlevania: Nocturne remains unaffected. Nevertheless, it is worth delving into and understanding the implications of this issue. The creation of shows like Castlevania involves an immense amount of creative talent. It’s truly remarkable that we continue to receive adaptations like these in today’s entertainment landscape.
