On the first day of Tokyo Game Show 2019, Sega revealed the western announcement trailer for Yakuza 7. The game will be titled Yakuza: Like a Dragon in the west. Today a new trailer for Yakuza 7 has been released at the Tokyo Game Show. The trailer, which is in Japanese with English subtitles available, shows off more of the story and setting.
“One journey ends, a new one begins. Yakuza: Like a Dragon A brand new story in a new city, featuring new characters, along with a completely revamped combat system,” reads a line from its official announcement. “All on top of everything you already love about Yakuza. Coming to the West in 2020!”
During the stage event where the trailer got revealed, Sega’s Creative Chief Officer Toshihiro Nagoshi explained why they didn’t call the game Yakuza 7 in the west. Since the game is similar to that of its previous version, Sega decided to change the brand name as well. Hence why the Like a Dragon part is bigger than Yakuza on the logo. It’s part of the Yakuza series and inherits from it, but also different.
In addition to revealing the trailer, they also revealed the characters for two of the Special Prize winners during the big election. Yakuza: Like a Dragon launches on January 16 in Japan and later in 2020 in the west. Yakuza: Like a Dragon will be coming to PS4.
