New Privacy Group Settings Rolls Out by WhatsApp

WhatsApp, the world’s most popular Instant Messaging cum Communication platform has started rolling out yet another privacy update for the users around the globe. WhatsApp has rolled out a new update which focuses on group privacy.

According to this new update, users will now have more controls over their groups in the WhatsApp application. With this new update, you will be able to select the contacts from your contacts list who can add you to different groups.

Until now, your number can be added by anyone to any group. But by now, you will have the full control to allow a certain number of people who can you to a different group on WhatsApp. The updated privacy settings can be found in the latest WhatsApp app.

You have to update the current version of WhatsApp on your respective Android and iOS devices to receive the update and the new group privacy features. If you wish to check this new feature, you need to follow the below-given path on your WhatsApp application.

Go to: Account > Privacy > Groups.

In this window, you will see a new option i.e. My Contacts Excepts…

This option can be found in the My Contacts and Everyone options. This option allows you to select the number of contacts who can add you to different WhatsApp Groups. By enabling this feature, your contact number can’t be used by a random person to add it on a random group which is completely unknown to you.

Once you enable this feature, the admin of that particular group can send you a private message and will ask for your permission to join the group. If you accept his invite, only then you will be added to that group. If you don’t want to join the group, you can simply reject his invite and that’s how this new group privacy feature will work for you.

WhatsApp has also explained everything about this new update. In an official blog post, they wrote that they have removed nobody feature from the same Group settings page and added My Contacts Except option to the page.
