Netflix Drops Support for AirPlay because of ‘Technical Limitation’

According to the latest update to the support document, Netflix no longer supports the AirPlay due to some unknown ‘technical limitations’. Netflix app on iOS devices will not support AirPlay to play contents on Air-Play supported devices.

After the recent update to Netflix, this change is also reflected in the app privacy policy which guides the users to connect to a TV using built-in Chromecast, Netflix 2nd Screen or a physical cable. Users who want to play media to an Apple TV or AirPlay-compatible device are now getting an error message.

It’s a bit surprising that Netflix hasn’t clarified any reasons for ending the support for the AirPlay. Even, this feature exists on the platform since 2013 and was working normally until this week.

However, AirPlay wasn’t that much important for Netflix as this streaming platform is available on the Apple TV, consoles, smart TVs, iOS devices, and more, so it is not that much important to use AirPlay to watch Netflix content. Even, at some places, AirPlay proved to be convenient to be used. But sadly, this is no longer available now.
