Netflix Attempted to License Grand Theft Auto From Take-Two to Develop a New Entry in the Series

Netflix has been pushing into the video games industry for a good while now, and it seems like the streaming giant attempted to develop a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series.

According to a new report posted on The Wall Street Journal, the company discussed plans to release a new entry in the series originally developed by Rockstar Games through a licensing deal. Given how Netflix has yet to release a major AAA game, it likely would have been a minor title, but still, it would have been interesting to see another developer’s take on the series’ established formula.

It has discussed plans to release a game within the popular action-adventure series “Grand Theft Auto” from Take-Two Interactive Software through a licensing deal, some of the people said.

As Grand Theft Auto V was released years ago, fans have been hungering for news about the next entry in the series, which has yet to be officially announced. According to rumors circulating online, the sixth entry in the series’ visual leap over Red Dead Redemption 2, the latest game from the studio, will exceed the second entry in the Western open-world series’ leap over Grand Theft Auto V. Among the many improvements will be water and vehicle physics, physically simulated lighting, better weather system, and more.

Grand Theft Auto 6 has yet to be officially announced, but it should launch no later than March 2025. We will keep you updated on the game as soon as more comes in on it, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
