Motorola Moto G7 Power Review: Huge Battery Capacity under a Great Budget

Moto G series emerged as one of the best-selling series of Motorola. Motorola has launched its G series back in 2014 to deliver mid-range smartphones with great features under a tight budget. And so, G series became one of the most selling series from the Motorola family. Even in recent years, Motorola has been hiking up in the G series and introducing some high-end phone. And one such phone they launched is Moto G7 Power with high-end features at a great budget.

As you know, every smartphone user wants a bigger battery life in its smartphone, and so targeting this need Motorola has launched this Moto G7 Power with a huge 5,000 mAh battery to make this phone running for long hours. Apart from this Motorola has packed this phone with some great features also. So today, we will be finding out, Is Moto G7 Power is a worth buy? Is it really feeds the need of Youth users with its huge battery capacity? Let’s review it to find out!

Build Quality and Design

Moto G7 Power has a similar design as that of its predecessors from G Series and doesn’t look much like a premium phone as there aren’t any great changes made in its design. This phone comes in two color variants, black and blue with a glossy finish similar to that of other phones in this series. It’s a bit heavy than other flagship smartphones weighing 193gms because of its huge 5,000 battery. Due to its huge battery, Moto G7 Power is a bit thicker than usual with almost 9.3mm thickness. However, it has curved smooth edges which looks very amazing and also make this phone easier to carry.

Now coming to its Display, Moto G7 Power carries as wider notch as compared to that of G7 and G7 Plus which carries waterdrop notch. It has 6.2-inch HD+ display with 1520×720 pixels resolution. However, its display is just satisfactory and sometimes fails to produce a highly detailed and sharp picture. This is because Moto G7 Power uses LCD display and due to which sometimes it creates some dark spots around the notch. However, the brightness is quite good and makes the content visible even on direct sunlight. Meanwhile, the screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 to protect it from minor scratches.

Specification and Software

Out of the box, Moto G7 Power is powered by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 SoC which is further coupled with 4GB RAM and 64 GB Internal Space to deliver high-end performance. The internal space of Moto G7 Power can be further extended up to 512GB via a MicroSD card. Although SD 632 is a mid-range processor, it is capable enough to deliver high-end performance.

Apart from this, you get a dual 4G VoLTE support with dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4GHz / 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, USB C-type and a couple of sensors such as a compass, accelerometer, and gyroscope. However, you’ll not NFC (Near Field Communication) on this phone. At the bottom, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack and at the back, there is a fingerprint sensor.

The new Moto G7 Power runs on the latest Android 9 Pie operating system. Also, you are provided with some pre-installed apps to start your phone on the go. One of the best feature os this phone is some gestures options to quickly perform some specific actions using Moto Actions. However, there isn’t Moto Voice installed in this phone which you’ll find in some upper range phones. Overall, Moto G7 Power gives a very clean UI making it easier to handle.

Performance, Camera, and Battery Life

Best thing is that Motorola has didn’t compromised to deliver good configuration in this phone to affect its performance. As Moto G7 Power comes with Snapdragon 632 octa-core processor which is further coupled with 4GB RAM to deliver great performance. It can easily run some high-end games including the most popular PUBG Mobile without any problem. Although, it can run the game at the low graphics setting, but didn’t experience much difficulty while playing PUBG through this phone. Even, you can easily do multitasking on this phone without any lag. However, on high usage, it gets a bit slow but that doesn’t a huge problem. Also, the fingerprint sensor responds quickly to unlock the phone.

Now coming to its Camera, Unlike G7 and G7 Plus, Moto G7 Power has a single rear camera with a 12MP lens while at the front, there is an 8MP camera. Its camera comes with some good features including HDR support and Portrait mode which works well. The camera performance is just up to the mark. In the daylight condition, both the cameras capture good pictures with satisfactory details and accuracy. While at the dim light conditions, the camera didn’t work well and captures blur images at a longer exposure. But overall, at this price, Moto has done a great job to deliver an average camera which works great at the daylight conditions.

Now coming at the major part for which G7 power is known for i.e its battery. It comes with a huge 5,000 mAh battery which is far bigger capacity than the other phones in the G series. Also, it comes with 15W TurboPower charger to quickly charge your phone once it drains out. As far its battery backup is concerned, this phone will live for more than 24 hours even on continuous using. We have played some songs, and uses plenty of hotspots, even we have played few hours of PUBG but still at the end of the day we were left with more than 40% battery which is amazing. So overall, at this range the battery backup of this phone is amazing.

Verdict

As per our view, this is one of the best mid-range phones with a huge battery backup. Also, it delivers great performance in our tests making this a great phone at this range. Although it has some downsides too like in that of its Camera and display, but overall at this price range of 13,999 this is a nice phone. So, if you are looking for a phone with a huge battery backup and also concerned about its performance, then you must go for it.
