Motorola has launched two new devices from its budget-friendly Moto G-series – Moto G8 Plus and Moto G8 Play. Apart from these two devices, the company has also launched the Motorola One Macro and Moto E6 Play smartphones. Both of these smartphones from G-series are one of the best budget smartphones currently available in the market. The new Moto G8 Plus and G8 Play comes with a very promising hardware configuration. The biggest improvements come with the phone’s camera, which has been bumped up from a dual rear camera to a triple-camera array.
Moto G8 Plus Specifications
The all-new Moto G8 Plus sports a 6.3-inch Full-HD+ display with a small notch at the top. The display comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It comes with a fingerprint scanner mounted at the back panel.
Under the hood, the Moto G8 Plus is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC which is further coupled with 4GB of RAM. Additionally, the device comes with 64GB of inbuilt storage that can be expanded further up to 512GB via a MicroSD card.
In the camera department, the Moto G8 Plus features a triple rear camera setup that includes a main 48-megapixel f/1.7 camera, a 2-megapixel f/2.2 depth sensor, and an 8-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera with a 117-degree field of view. There’s also a laser autofocus sensor on the back. At the front, there is a 25-megapixel selfie camera for selfies and video calling.
Apart from this, the device runs on Android 9.0 Pie with a guaranteed upgrade to Android 10. Connectivity options on the phone include dual SIM support, Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band Wi-Fi, and NFC. Additionally, the device features a USB Type-C port for charging and data syncing and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Besides, the Moto G8 Plus is fuelled by a 4,000mAh battery that comes with 15W TurboPower fast charging.
Moto G8 Play Specification
Taking a look at the sibling of Moto G8 Plus, the new MotoG8 Play features a 6.2-inch HD+ screen with a dew-drop notch at the front. The display is further protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Similar to G8 Plus, there is also a fingerprint scanner mounted at the back panel.
Under the hood, the device is powered by a MediaTek Helio P70 SoC which is further coupled with 2GB of RAM. Additionally, the device comes with 32GB of inbuilt storage that can be expanded up to 512GB via a MicroSD card.
In the imaging department, the Moto G8 Play also sports a triple rear camera setup that includes a 13MP main sensor, 8MP ultra-wide sensor with a 117-degree field-of-view, and a 2MP depth sensor. At the front, there is also a 25MP selfie camera.
Apart from this, the device runs on Android 9.0 Pie with guaranteed upgrade to Android 10. At last, the Moto G8 Play is fuelled by a 4,000mAh battery.
Moto G8 Plus, G8 Play Price and Availability
As for the price, the lone variant of Moto G8 is priced at £239 (€269) while on the other hand, the Moto G8 Play is not revealed yet by the company.
As for the availability, both of the devices are available now in Brazil and Mexico. G8 Play is also launching in Chile and Perú while the G8 Plus is making its way to India. Over the next few months, the Play will further roll out to Latin America, whereas the Plus will later launch in Europe, Australia, and Latin America.
