On Friday, Lenovo’s sub-brand Motorola launches the Moto C in India at Rs. 5,999. The new Moto C becomes the most affordable smartphone of Motorolla replacing the Moto E. The main highlight of the phone is 4G VoLTE support in this price range. The new Moto C will be sold via offline retailers across over 100 cities in India in Pearl White and Starry Black colour variants.
Commenting on the launch, Mr. Sudhin Mathur, Managing Director, Motorola Mobility India and Country Head, Lenovo Mobile Biz Group, said, “According to the reports fewer people are expected to upgrade to smartphones because of concerns over price, need and ability to use. We see this as a huge opportunity for a brand like us to initiate the smartphone journey for feature phone users. At Motorola, we focus on mobility through device innovation, user-centric design and smart connectivity to offer the best possible smartphone experience to the consumers.”
The device sports a polycarbonate body and comes with a textured finish on the rear, on the front, it is seen sporting capacitive navigation buttons, the speaker grille is seen at the back of the Moto C, while the 3.5mm audio jack sits on the top edge alongside the Micro-USB port. The power button and volume rocker are placed on the right edge of the device.
Coming on the specification, the Moto C runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system, Moto C comes with a 5” FWVGA (480×854 pixels) display. The smartphone is powered by a 1.1GHz MediaTek MT6737M quad-core Cortex-A53 SoC and offers 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card.
In terms of Camera, Moto C is offering a 5MP rear camera with 1.4-micron pixels, 74-degree field of view, fixed focus, a LED flash, and 720p video recording, on the front, there is a 2MP camera with 1-micron pixels, a 63-degree field of view, fixed focus, and a LED flash for taking better selfies in low light.
The Moto C is powered by a 2350mAh removable battery; connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, FM Radio, 3.5mm Audio port, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. There is no fingerprint sensor on this device. The phone measures 145.5 x 73.6 x 9 mm and weighs 154 grams.
