MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM Starts Rolling out for Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime


MIUI 9 global stable ROM is continuously hitting to more Xiaomi devices. After Redmi Note 3 and Redmi 1S, Xiaomi has started rolling out the MIUI 9 update for its budget-centric Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime smartphones.

The update for the third batch of devices was scheduled to roll out from December 2017. But the update was delayed because of a critical bug in it. Finally, Xiaomi starts pushing the update, it is about 376MB in size and it carries MIUI The update is still based on Android Marshmallow only, and the base version has not been updated to Android Oreo.

MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM For Redmi 3S/3S Prime starts Rolling out

The MIUI 9 Global stable ROM brings a host of improvements and bug fixes. The update brings improved layout and readability search results in Contacts, improved battery usage feature and better blocklist rules with separated rules for each SIM card.Other improvements include new Gallery app, Calendar Cards, App Vault, fresh UI changes, Mi Video App, search for apps in the settings of the dual app, Mi Drop app, Mi Mover app, new app vault features, improved notification bar and more.

The MIUI 9.2 update for Redmi 3S/3S Prime comes with April 2017 security patch, which is outdated since the January 2018 update patch has already been rolled out. The older security patch leaves the devices vulnerable to the KRACK WPA2 which Xiaomi has fixed in the other devices including the Redmi Note 3.

Notably, the MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM for Redmi 3S and 3S Prime is a Nightly Build, meaning that it will be rolled out to random users to get the feedback. If everything is right, the same update will be rolled out to all the users. Users can still manually check for the update by following these steps: Go to Settings > Scroll down > Tap About Phone > Tap System updates.
