Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales players who have popped the Platinum Trophy reported receiving access to a special Photo Mode frame.
Apparently, some PlayStation players who have unlocked the Platinum Trophy for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales have been granted access to a special Photo Mode frame. In the recent past, Sony occasionally awarded players who earned Platinum Trophies in first-party games with exclusive PlayStation 4 themes, in such titles as Bloodborne, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and Days Gone.
Strangely, though, who earned what sometimes seemed random. Players would report receiving an email with a redemption code for a theme just days after getting a Platinum in a first-party title. Meanwhile, even those who unlocked Platinum trophies close to launch never received any special items at all. It seems this level of randomness and uncertainty will continue into the new console generation.

Reddit user the_nerfherder has shared a screenshot of an email sent by Sony, awarding them for earning the Platinum trophy in Spider-Man: Miles Morales. More than just a celebratory message, the email additionally features a redemption code for an exclusive frame to use in the title’s impressive Photo Mode settings. In typical Sony fashion, though, there’s confusion over how players unlock this exclusive content. The special gift could be region-specific, or it might consider whether or not a user is subscribed to PlayStation’s online newsletter – it could just as easily be both.
Unfortunately, Sony is unlikely to offer any clarity on the matter. But it’s good to know the company has found another way to reward players for taking the time to earn Platinums in first-party adventures. In the absence of themes that can be applied to the PlayStation 5’s UI, special in-game rewards may be the best bet going forward. For now, it remains to be seen whether other recently released titles, such as Demon’s Souls, are rewarding devoted players in a similar fashion.
In the lead-up to PS5’s launch late last year, PlayStation’s trophy system received a visual and systemic overhaul. Fans are still divided on the changes themselves, but the promise of Trophies unlocking avatars and various other rewards went over well at the time. Evidently, the platform-holder has held true to said promise. But, again, it doesn’t seem widespread as of yet. Here’s to hoping that as this console generation progresses, Sony will share more specific details. For now, though, players who have popped the Platinum Trophy on recently released PlayStation exclusives may want to keep an eye out for incoming emails from PlayStation.
