The new Chromium Browser which is launched for Windows 7 and Windows 8 are Canary channel builds, this means the browser will update regularly on its own. You will receive regular updates of the browser since its in beta mode for these systems.

If we talk about the stable edition of the browser, Microsoft has stated that they will make its Dev Channel available for the existing users very soon. Unfortunately, they have not disclosed the specific release date of this browser for now. However, we will soon get to see the Dev Channel of this browser for the Windows PCs.

The Chromium Edge Browser’s Dev Channel will be released first for Windows 10 and Mac systems, and then for the Windows 7 and Windows 8 systems. So if you are using a Windows 7 or Windows 8 system, you will have to wait for the official Dev Channel as it will be launched for Windows 10 and Mac systems first.

The tech giant has not declared anything regarding its availability for Linux system as of now. However, in the future, we will get to see this browser on the Linux Operating System as well.

Microsoft has also stated that the first Canary Builds have many known issues and not suitable to work with all the features that you may have seen on Mac and Windows 10 PCs. For the same reason, they will release regular updates with the Canary Builds for Windows 7 and Windows 8 PC users.
