Microsoft Reveals New Windows 10 Light Theme, Smarter Active Hours, and More

After releasing its late October update, Microsoft has revealed an upcoming Windows 10 update codenamed 19H1. As per the company’s preview, the upcoming update brings light theme into the operating system, a smarter active hours feature to pause Windows update and a lot more improvements.

The light theme changes the entire interface of the operating system, including the taskbar, Start menu and the keyboard. To compliment the new light theme, Microsoft is also offering the default wallpaper of Windows 10 a light theme look to fit the new theme. The option for this is available in the settings, allowing you to change between dark and light theme.

A new intelligent active hours feature that can automatically adjust your no-reboot time based on your activity is also included in the upcoming update. You can manually force Windows to stop the update by clicking the Pause Updates option. It is now easier to find, just go in Settings / Update and Security / Windows Update.

Some of the other improvements include the optimization of the text narration for accessibility such as less verbosity and improved phonetic reading. A clearer print dialog, smarter screen selection, brightness slider, snipping tool, printing app updates is also included.

Windows Insiders or the beta testers can now test the new changes as part of a public beta. This Windows 10 update is expected to roll out in April next year, and it might also bring other changes not mentioned in the preview.
