OneDrive is undoubtedly the most useful cloud storage app which is a product of Microsoft. Today, Microsoft has added extra layers of security to its OneDrive app. People who use OneDrive for storing sensitive data can make use of this new security feature.

The company is adding a new protected section within the OneDrive app named with OneDrive Personal Vault. Unlike the main OneDrive app and its data, to get access to this Personal Vault section, you will be asked for a different authentication. You can make use of different security features such as PIN, Passcode, Fingerprint, Face Scan etc to have access to this personal section on the OneDrive app.

If you are keeping digital copies of your important data or ID cards and other banking-related information, then this new Authentication method will help you to keep them secured. OneDrive app has been upgraded with a number of useful features allowing users to scan different types of documents quickly within the app.

You don’t need to worry about your sensitive data, as the app will protect your files from unauthorized access without your permission. You don’t need to capture and store the photos of your ID cards and other important documents on your phone. The OneDrive app has a built-in Camera app that lets you directly capture/ scan your ID cards, travel insurance and other files directly to your OneDrive app.

If you are a Windows 10 User, then there will be more options for you to access these documents on your PC system. The OneDrive app will be synced automatically and you can access that Personal Vault folder with BitLocker-encrypted portion of your PC’s hard drive. So yes, you can still keep the Personal Vault Section secured even if you are using it on a PC.

To add more security, the Personal Vault Folder or Section will be locked after an inactivity of 3 minutes on Mobile phone and 20 Minutes on the PC system. To open that folder, you will have to reauthenticate with the Password or any other method you have used.

The company will start rolling out this new Personal Vault Folder feature in Australia, Canada and New Zealand soon. The same will be made available to other regions before the end of this year.
