Microsoft’s latest Xbox gaming consoles are now official and are set to go on sale starting November 10 globally. But it seems that the company has another inexpensive gaming device in production. Xbox head Phil Spencer has hinted towards new hardware for gamers which is mainly focused on Xbox xCloud game streaming service.
According to the hint, the new device is expected to be an Xbox xCloud streaming stick device like Amazon Fire TV Stick or other media-centric devices that directly plug into the HDMI port of the television and draws power from the USB port.
In a conversation with Stratechery (via The Verge), Spencer mentioned that these kinds of hardware can take the form of a streaming stick, or any other portable form factor and they will also be relatively cheaper compared to the upcoming Xbox Series S and Series X gaming consoles. Spencer also indicated the inclusion of Xbox Game Pass subscription with these devices to allow users stream and play their favourite titles on their TV.
Microsoft has not confirmed any other details about the streaming device such as name, features, requirements and pricing. The company was earlier rumoured to launch a game streaming stick back in 2016 and was expected to cost around $99. We may get to see the cheaper Xbox hardware next year.
For those unaware, Sony is also expected to expand its PS Now gaming subscription service to more countries including India soon. The new service allows users to streaming their PlayStation games on compatible devices and also brings several other benefits.
