Microsoft blocked Windows 7 April Update after System Freeze Issue


Microsoft has blocked the April’s monthly update for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 after getting a critical issue of system freeze. Basically, this issue persists on systems having Sophos antivirus installed on them which causes conflict with the monthly update of Windows 7.

Many Windows 7 users reported to Microsoft and Sophos about this issue that their computer failed to boot after installing this update and so looking forward to this issue, Microsoft blocked the monthly update for Windows 7.

This problem arises on Tuesday after Microsoft rolls out the monthly update for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. The main problem which has been faced by the users is their system failed to boot after installing this update. Even, if the computer boots successfully, system users failed to login into their PC.

Majority of users who faced issue had Sophos Endpoint Security, Control or Sophos Central Endpoint Standard/Advanced antivirus installed on their system. Even some users having Avast antivirus installed on their system facing the same issue. However, Microsoft only undertakes the issue with Sophos antivirus neglecting the issue faced by Avast users.

“Microsoft and Sophos have identified an issue on devices with Sophos Endpoint Protection installed and managed by either Sophos Central or Sophos Enterprise Console (SEC) that may cause the system to freeze or hang upon restart after installing this update,” Microsoft said in an update on Thursday morning.

In addition to Microsoft, Sophos also warned its users not to install the latest security update by Microsoft. Also, the company tells its users that if they have installed the update and acing this issue that they should boot their system in Safe mode and disable the Sophos antivirus. After that boot in the normal mode and delete the Windows monthly update and then reinstall the Sophos antivirus to fix this issue.

Although this update has been blocked by the company, even though if you are Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 user running Sophos antivirus and got the update, don’t install it until the problem fixes.
