Microsoft Acquires Code-Analysis Platform Semmle

Microsoft owned Github has officially acquired the code-analysis platform named Semmle. Semmle is a trusted code-analysis tool that helps researchers and developers encounter vulnerabilities in the code. If you are into web developing or software developing side, then you might be aware of the time consumed while encountering an error.

This tool helps you to find potential vulnerabilities in the code quickly so that you can save a lot of time. The tool works automatically and shortens up the manual tasks. The tool offers query language to find errors in the code instead of any manual testing process.

The tool has a service analysis engine which also helps the researchers to test out their code. Over the coming months, Github will fully integrate this new Code-analysis tool to its platform so that users don’t have to explore multiple tools or platforms again and again.

The companies have just announced their collaboration without further details of the pricing of acquisition. If we talk about the code-analysis tool, Semmle was introduced in the year 2006. The tool was launched to help users analysing the codes of the data.

The company has said that the current users will not have to worry about anything. The interface and everything will be the same for them and there will be no changes in the interface even after the acquisition which is indeed a great thing for the regular users of the platform.

Github announced this acquisition on Twitter via their official Twitter handle. You can check out the official information shared by Github from the embedded tweet.

Apart from this, Microsoft’s Github has announced that it is now a Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures Numbering Authority. This helps even the maintainers to encounter vulnerabilities and other issues with the codes. They will also be able to report the errors and vulnerabilities in the codes from the same platform.

In a nutshell, this acquisition will help the developers, researchers, testers and maintainers in many ways. The implementation of codes and testing out them will be much easier. We will share more information about this platform in the coming days.
