Metal Gear Solid Revisits Nintendo Consoles After a Ten-Year Hiatus

Snake, the iconic character from Metal Gear Solid, is making a grand return to Nintendo consoles. Konami recently announced during the June 21 Nintendo Direct that Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 will be available for the Nintendo Switch on October 24, as well as for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This comprehensive collection includes seven different Metal Gear Solid games and will be priced at $60.

As showcased in the exciting trailer below, the collection features some fan-favorite games such as Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, both versions of the original Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Snake’s Revenge, and more. To fully enjoy the trailer, please ensure that you are using a browser capable of playing HTML5 videos.

It’s worth mentioning that Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, which was an enhanced remake of the original game developed by an external studio, and the 3DS version of MGS3: Snake Eater were the last two Metal Gear Solid games released for a Nintendo console. These releases, especially The Twin Snakes, have garnered mixed reactions from fans.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 is part of a lineup of new releases from Konami, with the most notable being Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a full remake of Metal Gear Solid 3. However, it is important to note that series creator Hideo Kojima will not be involved in any of these projects, as previously confirmed by the company.
