Meizu 16 and 16 Plus Launched with in-display Fingerprint Sensor and Snapdragon 845: Price, Specifications and more


Meizu has today launched its latest flagship smartphones – the Meizu 16 and 16 Plus as the successor of Meizu 15 and 15 Plus, in China. The main highlights of the smartphones include a liquid cooled copper cooling tube to ensure that the phone will stay cool even in the heaviest of gaming scenarios, an in-display fingerprint sensor that has 99.12% high recognition rate and Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 845 Processor.

Meizu 16 and 16 Plus Price and Availability

The Meizu 16 comes with the price tag of 2698 yuan ($395/ Rs. 27,140 approx.) 6GB RAM with 64GB storage variant, 2998 yuan (US$ 439 / ₹ 30,150 approx.) for the 6GB RAM with 128GB storage, and 3298 yuan (US$ 483 / ₹ 33,170 approx.) for the top-end 8GB RAM with 256GB of internal storage option. On the other hand, Meizu 16 Plus cost 3198 yuan (US$ 468 / ₹ 32,165 approx.) 6GB with 128 storage,  3498 yuan (US$ 512 / ₹ 35,180 approx.) for the 8GB RAM with 128GB storage, and 3998 yuan (US$ 585 / ₹ 40,210 approx.) for the top-end 8GB RAM with 256 storage option. Both the smartphones are available for pre-orders starting today and will go on sale from August 20th in China. Both will be made available in Black and White colour options.

Meizu 16 and 16 Plus Specifications

Both Meizu 16 and 16 Plus runs on Flyme OS based on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system. The Meizu 16 sports a 6” Full HD+ (1080 × 2160 pixels) Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 402 PPI, while the Meizu 16 Plus features a 6.5” Full HD+ (1080 × 2160 pixels) Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 374 PPI. Both the smartphones are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 630 GPU. As mentioned above, the Meizu 16 offers 6GB RAM with  64GB/ 128GB internal storage options and 8GB RAM with 128GB of internal storage. On the other hand, Meizu 16 Plus offers 6GB RAM with 128GB internal storage and 8GB RAM with 128GB/ 256GB storage options.

For photography, both the Meizu 16 and 16 Plus comes equipped with a dual rear camera setup with a combination of a 12MP primary 1/2.3″ Sony IMX380 sensor with 1.55μm pixel size, f/1.8 aperture and wide-angle lens and a 20MP secondary Sony IMX350 sensor with f/2.0 aperture with the telephoto lens. Camera features include Four-axis OIS, PDAF, Laser auto-focus and 6-LED ring LED flash. On the front, it has a 20MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video calls. The front camera also has AI capabilities to unlock the device.

The Meizu 16 is fuelled by a 3010mAh battery, while the Meizu 16 Plus has a 3640mAh battery, both with mCharge fast charging technology. Connectivity options of both the phones include dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz) 2 x 2 MIMO, Bluetooth 5, GPS + GLONASS, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB Type-C port. The Meizu 16 Measures 150.5×73.2×7.3mm and weighs 152 grams, while the Meizu 16 Plus measures 160.4×78.2×7.3mm and weighs 182 grams.
