Back in May month, MediaTek introduced its most advanced Helio M70 5G modem and now everyone is waiting for the same Chipset to come in the market. The new Helio M70 will be designed with the 7nm FinFET process for the Chinese Smartphone Manufacturers.
The Helio M70 is there for the premium-end smartphones i.e. for flagships only. But today’s report from China says that the same company is planning to develop the 5G supported chips for the mid-rangers in the coming future.
50% of the smartphones market is covered by midrangers. Most people love to go with the affordable smartphones and that’s the only reason why the company has decided to develop the same 5G supported modems for the midrangers in the future.
According to China’s popular website, the company will be using the same architecture to design affordable chips for midranges. The original chip size of the modem will be reduced and hence the overall costing of the chip as well.
Furthermore, reports suggest that the mass production of the new affordable chips will begin from Q2 in the next year. So we can expect this affordable 5G supported modems in the real world by the third quarter of the next year.
The company has also discussed its future plans and aimed to sell out about 100 million chips in 2020. Most of these chips will be supporting the 5G connectivity. We would come up with more information about the availability of this new generation affordable 5G chips.
