MediaTek Caught Cheating with Benchmark Scores

There are so many smartphone brands who have caught cheating with the benchmark platforms. Today, a new report accused the popular chipmaker MediaTek. The platform has been found altering gaming performance with the benchmarking platforms.

According to reports, MediaTek found cheating with the latest Reno 3 Pro smartphone during the benchmarking. The device is powered by the Helio P95 processor. This is the European version of the device. On the other hand, the Chinese variant is named as Reno 3 5G which is powered by the Dimensity 1000L 5G chipset.

Apparently, the publication tried running PCMark’s Stealth version on the Helio N95 powered device. The Stealth version can’t be identified by the manufacturers and for that reason, there is nearly 30 percent of performance drop. However, the outlet reported up to 75% performance drop on the benchmarking site.

On the other hand, the Chinese variant of the phone is powered by Snapdragon 765G. This variant was also benchmarked by the same publication without any cheating. Upon investigating the European version of the phone, it refers to a new sports Mode which revealed high performance of the device.

Upon further investigations, the publication has found that a number of other devices have been found with the same Sports Mode which acts as a performance booster. This sports mode seems to be present only for getting high score during the benchmarking.

Anandteck is the main publisher who have caught the MediaTek Chipmaker red handed with this benchmark cheating on the Reno 3 Pro smartphone. Such capabilities reveal the full capabilities of the chips which will be powering the future devices.

If we closely notice this entire issue and trick applied by the Chipmaker, we can conclude that there has nothing been changed. Even in today’s advanced world, some companies are taking advantages of specialized algorithms to cheat out. We will get to hear more about this issue in the coming days.
