Disney Plus serves as the central hub for all things MCU, making it the go-to platform for Marvel Studios movies in timeline order. This feature is a valuable resource for users who want to experience the films in a way that enhances the ongoing narrative. However, it seems that Disney Plus’ MCU timeline has some inaccuracies that need to be addressed. Fortunately, we have a much more precise way to watch the MCU in chronological order.
A subscriber recently pointed out a major mistake in Disney Plus’ watch order on the r/MarvelStudios subreddit. The screenshot shared by the subscriber reveals that the streaming service mistakenly placed Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which is the opener for Phase Five, in the middle of Phase Three. It was slotted between Black Panther and Spider-Man: Homecoming. While getting Ant-Man 3 out of the way early may seem tempting, this placement is clearly absurd.
To clarify the nonsense of this placement, let’s consider that Black Panther and Spider-Man: Homecoming occur shortly after the events of Captain America: Civil War, which takes place in 2016. On the other hand, Quantumania takes place long after The Blip is resolved in Avengers: Endgame, specifically in 2025, nearly a decade later. Presumably, Ant-Man and the Wasp should be in this position instead, as it also follows the events of Civil War.
An alternative viewing order for the MCU, based on a qualitative system, can be a good idea. This approach would strategically place the franchise’s less-enjoyable entries among the very best to soften the impact. However, it’s unlikely that Disney Plus intended this with their current watch order. If Quantumania precedes Homecoming in the chronology, then it’s clear that Kang has been disrupting the timeline once again.
