Marvel and EA Collaborate to Develop Black Panther Video Game

Electronic Arts (EA) has officially announced its collaboration with Marvel to develop a Black Panther game. This comes as part of EA’s long-term deal with Marvel, which was announced in September 2022. The partnership between the two companies will also result in an Iron Man game. In addition to these two titles, EA is working on another game, bringing the total number of EA-developed Marvel games to three.

EA aims to create an immersive and dynamic world in which players can assume the role of Wakanda’s protector, the Black Panther. The company stated in a press release that their mission is to empower players to experience the responsibilities and adventures that come with being the Black Panther.

Under the leadership of Kevin Stephens, Cliffhanger Games, a subsidiary of EA, is responsible for developing the Black Panther game. Stephens, who previously oversaw the production of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Middle-earth: Shadow of War, joined EA in 2021 to establish the studio. The team at Cliffhanger Games consists of talented individuals who have worked on acclaimed games such as Halo, God of War, and Call of Duty.

Stephens emphasized that the development process for the Black Panther game has just begun and cautioned fans not to expect its release anytime soon. Nevertheless, he assured fans that the game will offer meticulous attention to detail and authenticity, paying tribute to the world of Black Panther.

EA’s decision to announce the Black Panther game at this stage is also intended to attract talented developers to join their team. The company plans to expand its development team over the next few years and underscored the importance of diverse voices and perspectives in creating a game centered around such an iconic superhero.

While the platforms for the Black Panther game have not been confirmed, it is speculated that it will be available for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles.

In the meantime, gamers can look forward to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, developed by Insomniac, which is set to launch in October for the PlayStation 5. Insomniac is also working on a Wolverine game, showcasing their continued collaboration with Marvel.
