‘Mario Kart Tour’ Multiplayer Goes Live On March 8th

On Monday, Nintendo announced that Mario Kart Tour which is actually the mobile version of the Mario Kart series will finally be getting multiplayer this weekend, nearly six months after its late September launch.

With the launch of multiplayer mode, you will be able to play this game with up to seven players locally or online starting Sunday, March 8th at 11 PM ET.

Mario Kart Tour is a simplified version of Mario Kart built to be played on your phone. The game comes with an automatic acceleration which lets the player only swipe left or right to control the movement of the kart and to tap on the items to collect on the way.

The game is free to play, but it also has a premium currency you can spend to try and earn random characters or vehicles to play with. There’s also a $4.99 per month subscription that unlocks some in-game items and the faster 200cc mode. The premium subscription also lets you access the game’s first beta test for multiplayer, which happened in December. Nintendo also hosted a second beta test that was open to all players in late January.

If you haven’t downloaded the Mario Kart Tour yet, you can download it now from Google Play Store or App Store depending upon the platform you are using.
