LG G8 ThinQ and LG G8s ThinQ with Hand ID feature launched at MWC 2019

Among other Smartphones Brands, LG has also unveiled its two new flagship smartphones LG G8 ThinQ and LG G8s ThinQ at MWC 2019. LG G8 ThinQ is the company’s follow up to the G7 ThinQ which was launched back in 2018. LG G8 is the high-end smartphone which is ready to give hard competition to other smartphone manufacturers like Samsung who has unveiled its Galaxy S10 series last week.

The main highlight of the LG G8 ThinQ is its Hand ID feature which identifies the palm veins to unlock the phone without touching it. With its ToF (Time of Frame) Z camera and infrared sensors, this smartphone enables the user to hover their hand over it to unlock the phone without touching it. This is the first-ever biometric technology to be introduced in a phone.

Apart from this, there are lots of gestures included in these phones making them easier to handle. This is enabled by the ToF Z camera which allows you to perform Air Motion to answer/ end calls, take screenshots, switch apps, and adjust volume all just with few simple gestures.Also, the ToF Z camera enables the LG G8 to use 3-D mapping for the face unlock which even works perfectly in the low-light situation.

LG G8 features a 6.1-inch Quad-HD+ (1440×3120 pixels) OLED FullVision display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a 564ppi pixel density. Moreover, Lg G8 ThinQ is powered by the latest octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC coupled with 6GB of RAM. Also, it comes with 128GB of inbuilt storage which can be further extended upto 2TB via a MicroSD card. Also, there is a fingerprint sensor mounted at the back panel of G8 ThinQ.

In addition, LG G8 ThinQ will be available in two camera variants. One with triple rear camera setup while another with a dual camera setup at the back. The triple rear camera has a 12-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.5 aperture and 78-degree lens, a 16-megapixel 107-degree super wide-angle lens with an f/1.9 aperture, and at last a 12-megapixel 45-degree telephoto lens with an f/2.4 aperture. While the dual camera setup consists of the same primary camera and a super wide angle camera. At the front, there is an 8-megapixel autofocus camera with an f/1.7 aperture and an 80-degrees lens. Also, the ToF Z camera is placed at the front coupled with an infrared sensor.

Apart from this, LG G8 is rich in connectivity options as it includes 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v5.0, NFC, FM radio, and USB Type-C (v3.1). Also, LG G8 ThinQ packs a huge 3,500 mAh battery with the support of Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology.

LG G8s ThinQ Specifications

LG G8s ThinQ is the cheaper version of the LG G8 ThinQ. And so most of its specifications are similar to that of LG G8 ThinQ. However, LG doesn’t disclose its specifications in details. LG G8s ThinQ features a 6.2-inch Full HD+ (1080×2248 pixels) display with 18.7:9 aspect ratio. In addition, it is powered by the latest octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC coupled with 6GB of RAM. Also, it comes in two storage variants, 64GB and 128GB which are non-expandable.

Apart from this, LG G8s ThinQ features a triple rear camera setup at the back. Out of which there is a 12-megapixel primary sensor, a 13-megapixel wide-angle sensor, and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens. While at the front, there is an 8-megapixel selfie shooter coupled with a ToF Z camera. Also, LG G8s ThinQ packs a huge 3,550 mAh battery with the support of Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology.

Like most of the LG launches, LG hasn’t disclosed the price tag of these phones. Also, they haven’t announced the availability of LG G8 ThinQ and G8s ThinQ. So, we have to wait a bit to get further details regarding these smartphone’s availability and their price.
